The GRC varsity girls tennis team played conference opponent Greenville yesterday and played them really well coming out with a 7-1 victory. This improves their conference record to 3-2-1. Here are the results:

1S Natalie Poortenga wins 6-1, 6-0.

2S Alex Vermeulen wins 6-2, 6-0.

3s Kaitlyn Schmitt wins 6-0, 6-1.

4s Avah Jerke wins 6-0, 6-0.

1d Frankie Volkema/Anna Jacobsen loss 3-6, 6-4, 5-7. This was a hard fought battle that was close to a 3 hour match. 

2d Betta Klein/Gwyn Artz wins 6-1, 6-1.

3d Rachel Larsen/Lucy VanDrunen wins 6-3, 6-1.

4d Charline Dahu/Anneka Vermeulen wins 6-1, 6-0.

5d Adelyn Breuninger/Anwen Amash wins 6-1, 6-0.

6d Johanna Bos/Juju Mills wins 6-0, 6-0. 

The Eagles also had an emotional day as it was senior night. Congratulations to our girls varsity tennis seniors: Natalie Poortenga, Alex Vermeulen, Frankie Volkema, Betta Klein, and Rachel Larsen. We are so proud of these are 5 incredible young ladies for the impacts they have made on and off the court to the program, school and community. Their legacy at GRC will not be forgotten, and I am beyond excited for what the future holds for them. Thankfully, we will have a few more weeks left of them on the team and plenty of tennis still to play. This Saturday the Eagles will play at home against Mattawan and Bloomfield Hills Marion. First match starts at 8:45am. Go Eagles!!
