The Eagles JV had their season opener vs Hastings. Reese Mersman started things off on the mound. She faced 48 batters over 5 innings. She gave up 18 hits, 11 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Karina Mora came in for relief in the 6th inning. She gave up 5 hits, 3 walks, and 1 strikeout.
At the plate the Eagles racked up 19 hits shared among 10 batters. Alexis Willis led the team with 2 singles, a homerun over left center, 3 RBIs, and 2 walks. Mackay Postma also had 3 hits, 2 singles and a double. Each having two hits were Greta Holman, Reese Mersman, Karina Mora, Addie Rodenhouse, and Hannah VanAllen. Each having one hit were Megan Afman, Bri Blankespoor, and Lizzy Terrill.
Going into the bottom of the 6th, Hastings had the lead 28-14. However the Eagles rallied and strung together 13 of their 19 hits, scoring 16 runs to take the lead. The Eagles struggled defensively to take advantage of opportunites to get outs and unfortunately couldn't hold off Hastings from taking the win.
