On a night when time was of the essence, the JV boys volleyball team needed to play two challenging matches so half the team can get back to school and be in the band and orchestra concert. The team did not waste a minute, beating Unity Christian in the first match in 35 minutes 25-23, 25-16. Five minutes later the Eagles had a rematch of the Gull Lake Invitational final against Byron Center. In a back and forth game of equally matched teams, Grand Rapids Christian dropped a close three set, losing 21-25, 25-19, 11-15. With the score tied at 11-11 in the third the Eagles had too many serving errors and Byron Center capitalized on it to win the match. The team played much better against Byron Center this time around, shutting down Byron Center's senior outside hitter most of the night. With the loss, the Eagles are now 19-3. The JV team hopes to bounce back Thursday at home against a towering NorthPointe Christian team.Having to switch positions to fill in for a teammate as opposite hit

On Friday we traveled to Forest Hills Northern to take on the Huskies in our highly anticipated rescheduled match. They are a formidable opponent and we always have great play between the two schools. From the start, most of our courts were in back-and-forth service holds. Until we found some kinks in their armor and started to pull away. All around were some very good, and entertaining points. In the end, our ground strokes and net play sealed the deal. Match score was 7-4, and the overall score was 11-4. Big win for our number 9 doubles Emily/Elise they were neck and neck at 4-3. With a slight adjustment they reeled off 4 games in a row winning 8-3. Our match of the day went to number 6 doubles Aleigha/Josie they were in a battle from start to finish. Both teams would trade off leads until the very end. The girls fought hard but ended up losing in a heartbreaker 7-8. We are very proud of the Team's performance from beginning to end. The JV Eagles girls lacrosse team travelled to Dewitt on Friday afternoon for a hard fought battle, but ultimately fell 9-4. Dewitt was a tough and aggressive team, but the Eagles came out ready to play. Throughout the game, the team showed poised physicality, strong ball movement, and lots of positive energy. Starting off, the Eagles showed significant improvement on the draw circle. Specifically, Esther King was dominant, obtaining five draw controls–the record for this season. She showed high lacrosse IQ by considering where the ball was going to be and fighting until she picked it up. Additionally, Lucy Deboer, Neve Winstanley, and Josie VanderWaal each picked up one draw control as well. It was great to see these girls working together to maintain ball possession immediately after the whistle was blown.  The hard work did not only occur on the draw circle, but with every ground ball.
