Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Spring Lake High School

The Eagles faced Spring Lake in the district semifinal at Forest Hills Central on Tuesday night.   Despite some quality shots from Charley Hassenrik and Hazel Vance in the first half, the Laker goalkeeper was up to the task, making a handful of incredible saves.   The first half would end 0-0.

The second half featured more of the same, but the Eagles finally found the breakthrough with just under 12 minutes remaining in the match when Iris Morgan made a strong run through midfield and delivered the perfect ball to Hassenrik, whose sublime first touch allowed her to get in behind the defense.  As the goalkeeper came out to close the angle, Hassenrik calmly tucked the ball inside the far post to give the Eagles the goal they needed.   The defensive unit, and goalkeeper Natalie Hutt, managed the last ten minutes well, preventing any serious threat from the Lakers.

The Eagles advance to their third consecutive district final on Friday when they face Allendale at East Grand Rapids at 6pm.   Go Eagles!
