Eagles Varsity Tennis dropped their tightest match of the year on Thursday to Grandville High School by a final score of 2-6. The final score, however, does not reflect the true competitiveness of the match. Of the ten matches played, five of them resulted in third set tiebreaks. The Eagles, unfortunately, had a difficult time putting their opponent away in those tiebreaks but showed plenty of tremendous signs otherwise. At singles, Senior Jake Mersman put up a fantastic battle at the #1 spot as well as George Kwon at #2. Charlie Baker had a decisive win at #3. At doubles, Banks McNinch and Sam Vandersloot played a fantastic match against a very tough opponent at the #1 spot. Will Deblecourt and Eli Wise continue their tear at #3 doubles, earning their fourth straight win! The Eagles turn their sites to Saturday for a tri in Rockford.
