This weekend the Eagles competed against some of the best competition in the state at Calvin University for the Michigan Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (M.I.S.C.A) Meet. 

Starting off strong for the Eagles were Emmett Vance, Sawyer O'Grady, Max O'Grady, and Mace Boender in the 200 Medley Relay posting a time of 1:42.43 and placing 12th.  In the 200 Freestyle, Senior swimmer Ben Sytsma broke the school record going a 1:40.42 previously held by Brad Flikkema (1:40.67 - 1996).  Ben finished 1st in the event and Junior Evan Nelson finished 16th with a time of 1:49.70.  Senior Max O'Grady finished in the 200 Individual Medley in 26th place with a 2:08.96.  Sophomore Emmett Vance placed 24th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 22.60, while Junior Mace Boender qualified for state with his time of 23.06.  Max O'Grady dropped a second in his 100 Butterfly by going 56.03.  Emmett Vance placed 16th in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 49.58, while Mace Boender again qualified for state with his time of 51.04.  In the 500, Evan Nelson broke the 5 minute mark by going 4:57.12 and finishing 8th place.  The 200 Freestyle Relay consisted of Sawyer O'Grady, Tyler Stinton, Evan Nelson, and Mace Boender, they placed 15th with a time of 1:32.25.  The Eagles had Ben Sytsma in the 100 Backstroke going after Corey Campbells record of 51.33 in 2019.  Ben started off the race in his first 50 with a 24.72 and brought it home with a 25.94 finished with a new school record of 50.66.  In the 400 Freestyle Relay, the Eagles finished 3rd with Emmett Vance, Evan Nelson, Max O'Grady, and Ben Sytsma putting together a 3:14.19 as the 5th fastest time in school history.  On the relay, Ben Sytsma again broke a school record by going a 44.29 split, beating his tapered time from state last year of 44.31.

The Eagles compete next against Forest Hills Central at the Forest Hills Aquatic Center on Tuesday, February 13th.
