Eagles Lose: -
Under beautiful racing conditions, the Eagles gave their all at the XC State Meet this past Saturday and finished in 4th place.

Leading the charge for the Eagles was junior Lilah Poel. Running a smart race, Lilah ran 18:42 and finished in 24th place to secure another All-State finish. She was followed by junior Ellie Scholma, who ran a courageous race to finish 39th in 19:04 while recovering from illness. Junior Annika TerBeek continued her amazing season by finishing 40th in 19:05. Sophomore Zoe Hoekstra closed with a killer kick finishing 49th in 19:11. Sophomore Lucy Waalkes continued her comeback with a great 67th place finish and a season-best time of 19:35. Freshman Maggie Scholma (147th) and Lydia Visker (160th) continued their amazing rookie seasons by running 20:37 and 20:49.

The energy from the non-racing Eagles was equally inspiring. Cheering from the sidelines with vibrant posters, they brought an infectious spirit that motivated their teammates and exemplified the team’s commitment to love and support one another.

As the season concludes, the Eagles can take immense pride in their accomplishments and the challenges they have overcome together. Their dedication and teamwork have not only led to a remarkable finish but have also fostered lasting bonds. With heads held high, the Eagles look forward to the future, celebrating the journey they’ve shared. To God be the glory!

Eagles Lose: -

The Eagles sealed the OK White XC Conference Championship last night as they won the Conference Finals meet (after previously winning both of the Conference Jamborees)! Racing for the third time this season at Riverside Park, the Eagles showed their dominance from start to finish by putting 3 runners in the top 5 and taking a third of the top 30 spots. Lilah Poel nearly pulled off the victory but came in a close second. She was followed by Annika TerBeek, Zoe Hoekstra, Lucy Waalkes, Ellie Scholma, Eva Lindstrom, and Vivi Duncan.

Determination, teamwork, and fall temperatures led to 18 PRs (personal records)! Lilah, Annika, Zoe, Eva, Vivi, Maggie Scholma, Gwyn Artz, Joy Van Wyk, Willa Peterson, Robyn Klein, Alena Sportel, Maria Martinez, Audrey Brouwer, Natalia Oren, Ana Kuprina, Maddy Baylor, Cecila Kort, and Rosie Baylor ran their fastest 5k time.

Eagles Lose: -
On a morning that finally felt like fall, the Eagles hosted the Kent Ottawa Invitational. This unique invitational allowed runners to either race the short course (3200m) or the long course (5000m). Junior Lilah Poel led the way in the short course by taking 2nd place - a mere 0.03 seconds out of 1st! She was followed by Zoe Hoekstra, Annika TerBeek, Joy Van Wyk, and Eva Lindstrom. In the long course, sophomore Lucy Waalkes led the way. She was followed by Vivi Duncan, Willa Peterson, Mia Powell, and Robyn Klein.  All of the short course runners PR'd as the 3200m isn't a typical high school distance! Natalia Oren was the only Eagle who PR'd in the 5000m long course.

The Eagles will compete for the OK White Conference Championship on Wednesday at Riverside Park.

Eagles Lose: -
Against a deep and talented D2 women's field, our Eagles were just edged out by a tough Zeeland East squad for the win. Leading the way for the Eagles was Junior Ellie Scholma with her 5th-place finish. Lilah Poel (12th), Annika TerBeek (27th), Zoe Hoekstra (31st), and Lydia Visker (39th) all ran strong races to power the Eagles second-place finish.

In perhaps the most exciting race of the day for our Eagles, the girls JV team demonstrated the incredible depth of our team. Eagles took home nearly a quarter of the medals in this race with 12 of the 50 medals awarded going to our team as we secured a solid 1st place team score. Eva Lindstrom (3rd), Gwyneth Artz (5th), Vivienne Duncan (8th), Maggie Scholma (9th), and Sonia Tatko (19th) scored for the JV Eagles while Mia Powell, Willa Peterson, Robyn Klein, Lily Tatko, Alena Sportel, Hannah Van Allen, and Cora Boonstra also all took home some hardware.

The Eagles are back in action at Gainey on Saturday when we host the Kent Ottawa Invitational.

Zoe Hoekstra and Annika Terbeek added strong performances, and Lydia Visker, Joy VanWyk, and Eva Lindstrom completed the top runners for the Eagles. Ana Kuprina ran her personal best time.

On Saturday, the Eagles will battle against the top D2 teams at the giant Portage Invitational.

The Otsego Bulldog Invite featured four of the top six D2 teams. The Eagles battled throughout the 5k course but came in 3rd (out of 22 teams), just behind host Otsego and Zeeland East. Ellie Scholma led the Eagles with a season-best time of 18:33. She was followed by Lilah Poel (19:07), Annika TerBeek (19:29), Zoe Hoekstra (19:35), Lydia Visker (20:16), and Joy VanWyk (20:59).

In the JV race, the Eagles packed it up and used the power of teamwork to win the race. Eva Lindstrom (21:24) led the team and was closely followed by Gwyn Artz (21:30), Vivi Duncan (21:31), Maggie Scholma (21:34), and Sonia Tatko (21:41).

Eagles Lose: -
On a foggy morning, the Eagles refused to lose sight of the finish line. Despite coming off a race just 2.5 days prior, the Eagles pulled together and took 2nd place at the Cougar Falcon Invitational at Gainey. Ellie Scholma and Lilah Poel led the Eagles. They were followed by Annika TerBeek, Zoe Hoekstra, Lydia Visker, Joy VanWyk, and Eva Lindstrom.

By the time the JV and Freshman races began, the sun was making Gainey feel almost tropical - and not in a good way! However, the races had to go on and the Eagles didn't back down. Willa Peterson led the JV race. She was followed by Lily Tatko, Hannah VanAllen, Robyn Klein, and Maria Martinez. In the Freshman race, the trio of Maggie Scholma, Sonia Tatko, and Cora Boonstra led the way. Alena Sportel and Natalia Oren rounded out the top 5.

The tropical conditions made PRs (personal records) hard to come by but Celia Kort managed to clock her fastest 5k time yet.

The Eagles return to action Saturday as they travel to Otsego for the Bulldog Invitational.

Despite moving the races earlier in the day, the heat and humidity were still factors for a 5k race. However, the girls varsity cross country team continued to show their strength by beating a tough DI Jenison team as well as the #4 ranked DII Holland Christian. Junior Ellie Scholma led the way with her 5th place finish. She was followed by Lilah Poel, Zoe Hoekstra, Annika TerBeek, and Lucy Waalkes - all in the top 25.

The JV team showed their determination by placing 8 in the top 11! This included Gwyn Artz, Maggie Scholma, Sonia Tatko, Cora Boostra, Mia Roe, Lily Tatko, Hannah Van Allen, and Mia Powell. PRs (Personal Records) were hard to come by due to the heat and humidity but Cora, Makayla Wynbeek, Natalia Oren, Ana Kuprina, and Celia Kort all ran the best time of their careers.

The Eagles kick off their conference season with the OK White Jamboree #1 on Wednesday at Riverside Park.
